Q. What is the hottest game show in Richmond that also supports a great cause?
A. The Great Richmond Trivia Bee!
The Trivia Bee, a fundraiser for The READ Center, is Wednesday, April 25th 7pm to 9pm at the Hippodrome. It’s a team-based competition for people who love words, vocabulary, pop culture, history, literature and showing off how smart they are. READ changed the format from a spelling bee to a trivia bee last year and it was a hit!
How does the game work?
Teams of three will be competing in the Trivia Bee, and audience members will have the opportunity to play along. It’s a fast-paced game with a wide range of trivia categories, so there’s a little something for everyone. The winning team will be awarded the Trivia Bee cup, and bragging rights, but everyone who attends wins in the knowledge that you helped a local adult improve his/her literacy skills. There will also be a Team Name competition, and teams have been super creative in their name choosing. Christina Feerick of ABC8 News, and Kat Simons of Mix 98.1 return this year as event emcees. Light refreshments and a cash-bar will be available.
How do I participate?
We are excited to announce that we are nearly at capacity for teams – we have about 38 teams committed or registered to play – so if you want to compete, get your team registration in as soon as possible! You can also purchase tickets to attend as a member of the audience, to play along and cheer on the teams. If you cannot make it to the Bee, consider making a donation or to become a Bee Keeper Sponsor – we’ll include your company logo or small ad in the event program.
We hope you’ll “be” at the Bee!
