Tuesday, November 28, 2017 is Giving Tuesday. CBS put it best: “It’s like Cyber Monday for Charities.”
There are over 72,000 reasons, one for every adult in Richmond, Henrico, and Chesterfield who cannot read well, to give to The READ Center on Giving Tuesday. By showing your support, you’re helping adults in our area attend classes and receive tutoring free of charge so they can improve their quality of life.
Just about every cause you care about starts with literacy – education, alleviating poverty, housing, and more. Our students come to learn at READ so they can complete online job applications, study for the GED, get drivers’ licenses, read the Bible, or simply to take pride in having a skill many of us take for granted, reading.
Low literacy is a crisis in our community that not many are aware of. You can help us change that by making a donation and sharing this blog post with a family member or friend. The more people we can rally to our cause, the more people we can help in Richmond. Donations help provide books for students, digital learning resources, training for volunteer tutors, and more.
